Central Dining Room
_____________________________________
The recently refurbished Central Dining Room is the main dining facility on the 'new' side of the School, and serves three high quality meals a day for everyone based in the Houses there.
Houses on the 'old' side of the School will soon have meals provided in a new light and airy café situated in the heart of the School which will also serve as a shared social area for pupils and staff to use outside the main dining times.

Reception
______________________________________
The first building to greet you on arrival at Charterhouse is the new Reception and Admissions Department building.
In 1958 the house, with its beautiful Gertrude Jekyll designed garden, was built in the centre of the School as accommodation for Headmasters. Prior to this, Headmasters had also been Housemasters of Saunderites, which is opposite. The house, now referred to as Old Headmasters’ House, is perfectly positioned at the heart of the School and the ideal place to start a visit.

Founder’s Court
______________________________________
At the heart of the School is Founder’s Court, with the iconic bronze of our founder, Thomas Sutton.
One of the original features created in 1872 when the School moved to Godalming from London, Founder’s Court is the centrepiece of Charterhouse, and remains in daily use. Two of the original Houses overlook the court with some pupils’ bedrooms still located within the tower (pictured). One of the best views in the School to wake up to!

New Boarding Houses
______________________________________
Two new Houses will open in 2021, as we welcome girls to Year 9 and move to full coeducation.
Built close to the 1970s built ‘new Houses’, with views across the playing fields to the original part of the School, these Houses reflect the design aspects of both the old and newer parts of the campus.
One will be the new home of Saunderites – for boys – and the other will be the fourth girls’ House, Northbrook.
The Houses offer modern accommodation with light and airy common room spaces and are within easy reach of the Ben Travers Theatre, Central Dining Room, Queen's Sports Centre, golf course and playing fields.

Our stunning Library was part of the original School in 1872 and refurbished in 2004. It is staffed by a friendly team of four librarians, led by a professional Research Librarian, ensuring that there is always help and guidance available to pupils and all members of the wider Charterhouse community.
The Library houses over 30,000 books, a wide selection of newspapers, journals, DVDs and audiobooks, and maintains an extensive range of online subscription services covering a wide variety of subjects.
The Carthusian Collection consists of books both by and about Old Carthusians and beaks (teachers), and the dedicated Gallery Room houses our Rare Book Collection, which is available for consultation by visiting researchers and academics.
Whether pupils are searching for information, reading for pleasure, or looking for a quiet place to study, our library will serve their needs.

Armoury

Built away from the main School for safety in 1915, Armoury is the base for the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). It is also the home for the Charterhouse shooting team which has been one of the most successful school teams in the country over the past few years.
CCF is a very popular activity choice for our pupils and the School contingent has Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Royal Marines sections. Centred around regular Monday afternoon parades and activities, the focus is around helping our pupils to develop leadership skills and reach their full potential by providing challenging, active, adventurous and fun activities.
